Cozy games are the best way to end the day
Not every game needs to challenge you. Some nights I just want to potter around a little village and watch things grow, and that's where cozy sims earn their keep. Tiny Harbor Town has been my go-to for exactly that.
The genre works because it removes pressure. No timers, no failure states, no leaderboards yelling at you. You set your own goals and the game politely gets out of the way. It's the opposite of doomscrolling.
There's still enough depth to keep your brain engaged if you want it. Planning a town layout or optimizing trade routes scratches a light strategic itch without demanding real effort. But you can also just ignore all that and vibe.
The one risk is running out of content, and cozy games do sometimes taper off. But even a few weeks of low-stress evenings is worth the download for me.
If your gaming has felt like a chore lately, try swapping one intense title for something cozy. It's a surprisingly good reset.
